What is this?
A few months ago, my friend Michele suggested that I post cooking videos on Facebook. I really didn’t take her seriously until this Coronavirus thing started, and I had more time on my hands than I knew what to do with. So I figured I’d post something as a lark. I couldn’t believe how many people liked and commented, so I made another video and the reception was just as large. I couldn’t understand it- I’m no chef..
I owned and operated an Italian Restaurant for ten years,
and to be honest, I miss it every day. I’d love to get back to that someday, but my wife and kids would likely all divorce me.
Anyway, at the restaurant, I had a chef and a staff that did most of the cooking (although I was known to jump behind the line pretty frequently) and one of my favorite things to do was to develop the menus and new recipes. But I’m not formally trained, I’m just a guy who loves to cook. Then again, if people want to watch me in the kitchen and see if they can take something away, why not?
I’m also trying to improve my technical skills. You’ll notice that in the first two videos, I had the camera turned the wrong way, until my friend, Kevin (who is a news and media giant) set me straight. I’m also working on my video editing skills, but I think that might require the purchase of some more sophisticated software.. we’ll see.
But this was supposed to be a Facebook thing. Then my sister, Nancy told me that I need to branch out, because some of her friends wanted to see my videos, but aren’t on Facebook.
So now I’m a blogger, and that’s how we got here.
I encourage you to try some of my recipes in your own kitchen. If it matters, we keep a kosher kitchen, so all of my recipes are strictly kosher- if you do the same, you’ll have no issues here.
I hope you enjoy!
